You should plant a seed in his ear

This one was overheard in a conversation. This is a nice congruent conflation of “put a bug in (one’s) ear” and “plant a seed in (one’s) head”, both meaning to give someone a hint about something. Maybe an ear of corn? A tip of the hat to Cheryl Rosato for hearing this one. Cheryl is my illustrator for the three malaphor books published on Amazon. Check her work out. She’s the best!
