He’s a wet toast

It is a blend of “wet blanket” (discouraging enjoyment or enthusiasm) and “milquetoast” (lacking vigor, wishy washy), both referring to someone who is boring and dull. It’s not quite a congruent conflation but definitely an excellent description! A big thanks to Bruce Ryan for hearing this one and sending it in.
This is the last malaphor posted for 2024. Stay tuned for what everyone has been waiting for — Malaphor of the Year!
Nice. Made me think of the Dutch expression “wet toastie” (toastie as in a grilled cheese sandwich) used when referring to a person who suddenly gets emotional or expresses to be hit by a cuteness overload when that does not necessarily fit their otherwise more firm character.
There is even a band called The Wet Toasties (translated) who produces Schlager-like music (so I have heard).
keep it up Dave! Love your posts
