Guys have kind of taken me under their arms

Perhaps this is just “arms” for “wings”, but I think it is a legit mashup of “under (one’s) wing” (to be protected or nurtured) and “with open arms” (enthusiastically, warmly). A shout out to Jim Kozlowski, loyal Eagles fan, for spotting this one and sending it in.
